stucel Posted May 26, 2009 Share #1 Posted May 26, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hallo, knows anybody is possible to change rear part of Summicron 2/35 for M3 (googled) for rear part of Summaron 2.8/35 (not googled)? Because: I have Summicron 2/35 for M3 with damaged googles and speculate about it - Cron M3 has rear part with viewfinder-switching to 50mm but some switch for ragefinder correction too. Firstly: Is the rear part of Summaron 2.8/35 the same as rear part of Summicron 2/35 (of course the same type googled or not-googgled) ???? Secondly: Is possible to change rear parts between googled and not.googled version? I think, it must be entire rear part with sharpening helix. It is possible or I´m a madman??? Thanks for idea Paul
Advertisement Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Hi stucel, Take a look here Possible to change parts between Summaron and Summicron ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted May 26, 2009 Share #2 Posted May 26, 2009 The helix of the goggled and non-goggled version are quite different and non-interchangeable. It may be that the goggles are optically similar between various goggled 35 mm lenses, but don't be surprised if rings, screw-holes etc. don't fit. You may need to do a little surgery and it would be surprising if you were able to maintain focussing accuracy. What you can try to do is exchange only the optical cell between a goggled and non-goggled identical lenses, but you are in uncharted waters.
luigi bertolotti Posted May 26, 2009 Share #3 Posted May 26, 2009 I wouldn't try operations that involve the disassembly of the lens barrel... difficult to achieve a good result at a decent cost, and even if made by a very good lab... probably doesn't worth the cost. The problem of the different helix evidenced by Jaap is the main reason for not trying a "goggle-to-ungoggled conversion" : if your goal is to continue to use your Summicron 35 could be that the best way is looking for goggles repair... after all the glass part of them is, I think, identical in any version Summicron/Summaron/Summilux, and I have seen replacement parts for the goggles available at some labs... That is my idea, but of course its feasabilty depends upon the kind of damage your goggles suffer... can you send a pic of ? Just for curios... maybe me or someone else can have a good idea looking at...
