Hi,

The D-LUX 4 press release says:

..."At full f / 2.0 aperture, the LEICA D-LUX 4 lens brings more creative possibilities with low light and depth of field into the sphere of compact photography"...

I am really interested in understanding what the D-LUX 4 can achieve in terms of separating the subject from background (Wide-open selective focus), i would be very pleased if someone of you could post D-LUX 4 shots made with creative use of shallow depth of field

Thank You

You may want to check out the Photo section of this forum or even go to the LFI gallery to D-Lux master gallery. To achieve shallow DOF you pretty much have to use the macro setting. Here's one example:

after I read an interesting post here about DOF measured on manual focus on DLux4 I start play around with the camera switching between autofocus and manual focus. I notice that the camera autofocus system tent to reach hyperfocal when it's possible and put everything in focus. As example when your subject is 2m away autofocus sets something like 2m-infinite. Through manual focus you can slide focus keep the subject in focus and bokeh the background. In your subject is closer the camera need to focus near and have no other chance but create bokeh.

try, play and you'll see the results. have fun.
