  1. I really love taking random street photography like this. Camera: Leica M-P (typ 240) Lens: Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95 ASPH. Location: Dubai - Jumeirah Beach Residence Welcome 2016

Camera: Leica M-P (typ 240) Lens: Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95 ASPH. Location: Wien No crop as usual... I liked the tones of yellows in the picture and believe that her yellow hat completes this tonnage there.
  3. Taken only in candle light with no tripod. No crop, no editing... Camera: Leica M-P (typ 240) Lens: Noctilux-M 50mm 1:0.95/50 ASPH.
  4. Greetings, I wonder if anyone out there using a X 113 can tell me; does it have a depth of field preview ability, and secondly, does it have a depth of field electronics scale?
  5. Hi - I just purchased my first Leica camera - an M 240 (second hand) as well as an Elmar 24mm lens. If I try and maximise the depth of field at f11 say by focussing the infinity mark at the f11 depth of field marking on the lens, or by focussing at the hyperfocal distance, the foreground is crystal clear, but the background is slightly blurry. In order to get a clear background, I have to focus the lens at a much long distance than the hyperfocal distance. Could there be an issue with the equipment, or have I missed something fundamental? Thanks.
  6. Hi, I am wondering about a new slightly longer lens and am between a faster 50mm (1.4 or 1.5) and a slightly slower 75mm (2.5). While I'd probably be able to shoot more hand-held with the 50, shoot in lower light and have frame lines on my M3, I was attracted to the 75mm because of the way it renders for portraits and blows out the background. A 90mm would probably not be ideal for me, since I prefer handheld shooting and don't shoot all that much in fully sun-lit outdoors conditions. (And my M8 isn't a high-ISO demon...) Here's my question: Is there more depth of field with a 50mm 1.4/1.5 than with a 75mm 2.5 both at the respective maximum aperture? Thanks in advance, George
  7. I've put together a spreadsheet that explains why the M8 still has the same DOF behavior as the M9 and FF 35mm cameras, when using Leica lenses. I hope you find it interesting, it is located here, the file is dof.xls May also justify why you might want to spend a couple extra $$ or Euro for a Leica lens... Index of /photography Thanks!
  8. Hi, The D-LUX 4 press release says: ..."At full f / 2.0 aperture, the LEICA D-LUX 4 lens brings more creative possibilities with low light and depth of field into the sphere of compact photography"... I am really interested in understanding what the D-LUX 4 can achieve in terms of separating the subject from background (Wide-open selective focus), i would be very pleased if someone of you could post D-LUX 4 shots made with creative use of shallow depth of field Thank You
