Advertisement Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Hi stuny, Take a look here R10 tdi. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
John Thawley Posted May 22, 2009 Share #2 Posted May 22, 2009 In the Audi showroom on park Avenue. I doubt it's a demo. You could always ask. It would certainly slide by any NYC noise ordinances. You can barely hear that thing coming. LOL Good to see them drag the old girl out of mothballs. They're all about the R15 now. How quickly they forget. I loved the looks of this car. vdb Posted May 22, 2009 Share #3 Posted May 22, 2009 A fabulous car, but IMHO---to quiet. Al Mcnish once said the wind noise was distracting.
Marquinius Posted May 22, 2009 Share #4 Posted May 22, 2009 It could be a clay model Marco ps: where to leave the crate of beer and bag of chips?
stuny Posted May 22, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted May 22, 2009 Thanks, gents. I visited again (more photos coming) when they were open and they said that McNish's statement is typical of him, he's so funny. I also asked why there was no R15, and they said it's needed on the track.
John Thawley Posted May 23, 2009 Share #6 Posted May 23, 2009 Thanks, gents. I visited again (more photos coming) when they were open and they said that McNish's statement is typical of him, he's so funny. I also asked why there was no R15, and they said it's needed on the track. Ah, but it's a true statement. I shot the test when they rolled the R10 out for the first time. I'm telling you, you can not hear the car coming. And, when it goes through and apex, you'll hear a slight tire squelch... but on the straights and approaching a turn, all you hear is tire slap on the pavement. We rely on hearing a lot... shooting blind corners or hill crests... it's all to often you'll miss the Audis. That's not to say Alan is not a funny guy. In fact, he, Kristensen and Cappelo are a riot. I spent time with them two nights in a row.. hanging out at Starbucks in Sebring this year. Great fun. Of course, the ultimate prankster is Emanuele Pirro. LOL Meanwhile... I love the R10.

I'll bet because of all your hours at tracks you have an endless supply of colorful and amusing stories and observations.
John Thawley Posted May 23, 2009 Share #8 Posted May 23, 2009 John - Very amusing. I'll bet because of all your hours at tracks you have an endless supply of colorful and amusing stories and observations. There are just enough "regulars" to create the atmosphere of a traveling circus so it does become sort of a family. I think I'm nearing 70 or so consecutive American Le Mans races... including winter test sessions. It is fun.

pauledell Posted May 24, 2009 Share #10 Posted May 24, 2009 Stuart, This must be what a race driver dreams about for Christmas. It would take a big Christmas tree to fit it under though. Lovely shot as usual. Paul
