jaapv Posted May 14, 2009 Share #1  Posted May 14, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) These are 100% crops. The first was developed in an early version of C4. It shows some mild CA-like purple fringing. I redeveloped it in C1 4.8 The fringing totally disappeared.... A colour difference too...  EDIT: A typo in the title, it is the 24/1.4.... Advertisement Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Hi jaapv, Take a look here 21/1.4 needs C1 4.8. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
innerimager Posted May 14, 2009 Share #2 Â Posted May 14, 2009 21/1.4 or 24/1.4 Jaap? I thought you only had the 24. If you got the 21 also, I would love to hear your thoughts on it, and see more images. best...Peter

jaapv Posted May 15, 2009 Author Share #7 Â Posted May 15, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I think different demosaicing algorithms. After all, C1 has access to the original Leica software Supposedly 4.8 has been tweaked and it shows.
marknorton Posted May 15, 2009 Share #8 Â Posted May 15, 2009 Big improvement. Perhaps in writing 21/1.4, Jaap was inadvertently reading from his shopping list now that his second camera is back...
jaapv Posted May 15, 2009 Author Share #9 Â Posted May 15, 2009 <grin> No, the next item is "S 200" Â I have figured out an alternative theory. This lens has its highest contrast wide open, and a very high micro contrast too. It is simply sensor blooming, and C4.8 seems rather efficient at handling that. Leon S. Kennedy Posted May 16, 2009 Share #10 Â Posted May 16, 2009 How does Aperture perform? Â I had a quick look at C1 but it seems to confuse me which is strange because I'm normally good with software
coup de foudre Posted May 16, 2009 Share #11  Posted May 16, 2009 I had a quick look at C1 but it seems to confuse me which is strange because I'm normally good with software  i felt the same way about C1 but once i settled down and concentrated on processing an image, it wasn't so horrid. rather than try to learn it, try to use it. IMO, it's worth the hassle. it really does do a better job than any of the others (Aperture included).
Guest malland Posted May 17, 2009 Share #12  Posted May 17, 2009 Cam, last night I tried both C1/4.8 and Aperture on a couple M8 files and must say I preferred the overall RAW conversion results of the latter, whose highlight recovery I also prefer. Would it be possible to post some screenshots that show why you prefer C1?  —Mitch/Bangkok Wild Beasts of Botswana
