ericmomo Posted April 29, 2009 Share #1 Posted April 29, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does anyone has any idea whether the UV/IR filter must be taken off when shooting film? Will it cause strange colors on film especially with wide angles like 21 or 24 Summilux? Thanks very much.

stunsworth Posted April 29, 2009 Share #2 Posted April 29, 2009 Yes, they'll cause a problem using colour film. There will be colour contamination as you get closer to the corners of the frame - cyan from memory. The wider the lens, the greater the problem. Fernmelder Posted April 29, 2009 Share #3 Posted April 29, 2009 And what about their use with black and white film?

Fernmelder Posted April 29, 2009 Share #6 Posted April 29, 2009 All right, well I'm still kind of a beginner.
dpattinson Posted April 29, 2009 Share #7 Posted April 29, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) With B&W film there is noticeable vignetting on the 28 cron at least, and I think I noticed it on my 35 as well. So unless you are shooting a 50mm lens or longer, I would swap out the filter for a plain UV one.

I'm shooting a 35mm lens (ZM Biogon 35/2) and already ordered a plain UV filter some days ago which will hopefully reach me soon.
