dennersten Posted April 26, 2009 Share #1 Posted April 26, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Look at this link: Leitz Leica IIIC svart kamera med klädsel, hajskinn Sällsynt på Tradera. It's advertized as a genuine Leica. Did Leica ever have black rewind knobs? And the black film forward knob (correct english word is)? Look very much like one of these? Leica-3 III Copy Luftwaffe Black Camera EXC+ - eBay (item 170265298248 end time May-21-09 00:47:34 PDT) Did the Russians do plain non nazi fakes also? earleygallery Posted April 26, 2009 Share #2 Posted April 26, 2009 My guess is that this is a later 'aftermarket' paint job. It's not a fake (the second one is!).
echorec Posted April 26, 2009 Share #3 Posted April 26, 2009 ..and it looks like black chrome, not black paint. Nice camera anyway.
dennersten Posted April 27, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted April 27, 2009 My guess is that this is a later 'aftermarket' paint job. It's not a fake (the second one is!). I have never seen Black Chrome repaint jobs. Are there?

echorec Posted April 27, 2009 Share #6 Posted April 27, 2009 I have never seen Black Chrome repaint jobs. Are there? Maybe Leica did it themselves if the camera was serviced at the time they made black chromes?
luigi bertolotti Posted April 27, 2009 Share #7 Posted April 27, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) My guess is that this is a later 'aftermarket' paint job. It's not a fake (the second one is!). A close look/inspection would be mandatory... but my first impression is exactly the same as above.
dennersten Posted May 7, 2009 Author Share #8 Posted May 7, 2009 It finally went for approx 620 Euros. Worth it?
luigi bertolotti Posted May 7, 2009 Share #9 Posted May 7, 2009 Probably no, given that 90% the painting is a aftermarket job... but if mech is good is not an obscene price: original fine blacks are around 500 Euro, very fine chrome around 300-400; anyway, I definitely wouldn't have bought it at that price...
