robbi@laurenson.com Posted April 24, 2009 Share #1 Posted April 24, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I finally sold my D80 after figuring out if you don't take the camera with you, you don't get the shot . I've spent the last 2 weeks learning Capture One and Expression Media and devouring the user manual. Today I finally get to start putting my money where my eye is - which is really where it's at, so to speak. I'm very excited to transition from chair-bound spec-drooler to the harder and more rewarding work of learning to take great pictures. This camera has inspired me with its possibilities! Cheers from Cape town, South Africa, Robbi

robbi@laurenson.com Posted April 25, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted April 25, 2009 Thanks, folks, I sure will be posting pics. Just experimenting at the moment so nothing of note yet . This morning's job is to figure out how best to control ISO settings...I can see why some folks have been wanting an ISO wheel. Good thing we have some inclement weather and bad light here to play with .

Guest Essemmlee Posted April 25, 2009 Share #6 Posted April 25, 2009 This morning's job is to figure out how best to control ISO settings.... It is very easy to change ISO quickly. Just press and hold Q Menu then slide across to the ISO adjust. Up and down controls ISO. Very easy and nearly as fast as a wheel. In fact adjustment of most variables is easy using the Q Menu. Enjoy.
robbi@laurenson.com Posted April 26, 2009 Author Share #7 Posted April 26, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks, Steve - the Q Menu is a really useful capability indeed. I also hooked the ISO selector up to the fn button which is quick to use. I love the way this camera gives you such intuitive access to it's most needed functions. I understand now why people are saying it's a real photographer's camera.

regedit Posted April 27, 2009 Share #10 Posted April 27, 2009 Thanks, folks, I sure will be posting pics. Just experimenting at the moment so nothing of note yet . This morning's job is to figure out how best to control ISO settings...I can see why some folks have been wanting an ISO wheel. Good thing we have some inclement weather and bad light here to play with . if you want your ISO setting at one touch you can set it up to bound with fn key. By default this key is last shot display in pic mode, but through menus you can change the key functionality to ISO select. Check your manual or ask for more details. Have fun with your camera.
