meatboy Posted July 3, 2006 Share #4 Posted July 3, 2006 Gérald, I am curious, did you use a star filter to get the little starbursts in the water at the bottom right of the image? Tim
gverdon Posted July 3, 2006 Author Share #5 Posted July 3, 2006 Tim, no, the only filter I use with the D2 is the "protecting" UV. And no PS (Gimp) trick neither, the fantastic light of Lisbon seduced many times my sensor... ;-) Gérald
john_r_smith Posted July 4, 2006 Share #6 Posted July 4, 2006 Gerald this is very well done. I would like to see this printed at A3. In some ways, the more you can do in camera the better, because there is this magical feeling that somehow the camera made the shot too - this was very true with film, where you would have a roll of twelve shots (in my case) and one would just shine out from the negs before you had even printed it. It is good that the same magic still happens with digital cameras. John
kld Posted July 4, 2006 Share #7 Posted July 4, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) There are indeed a lot of boundaries in this landscape and a nice play of light in between.
stuny Posted July 4, 2006 Share #8 Posted July 4, 2006 Gerald - There you go again, capturing wonderful, mysterious light and subject. Stuart
gepetto Posted July 4, 2006 Share #9 Posted July 4, 2006 Really splendid Gérald. Right up my alley. Is this a bend in the river? It looks very far from shore to shore. Copo do mundo de Portugal da vitória.
gverdon Posted July 5, 2006 Author Share #10 Posted July 5, 2006 Thank you all. John, you're right about the "magic"... I was surprised to feel it after a hole of more than 25 years in my photographic activity... and with digital stuff. Klaus, happy to see you crossed the river too ;-) Stuart, this type of image is always a combination between what one saw and what the lens captured... Sometimes they are big (and good) surprises. ;-) Gepetto, the Tagus River IS large in Lisbon... The largest bridge across it is Vasco da Gama's, with a total length of 17.2 km. ;-) Cheers, Gérald
