One thought which occurs would be to all "shoot fresh". How about a "One day around the world through a Leica Lens" sort of thing? We could all agree on a date - Oskar Barnack's birthday, say - and shoot and submit a single image taken on that day for the book. That would certainly and by definition reduce the number of images drastically whilst at the same time putting a "process" in place that we could all participate in to produce an exceptional image specifically for the book. I have some concern that perhaps a contribution cannot be made just because a particular person is tied up in another project on that very day. But if we can mutually agree to this month I agree and have no objections. One idea struck me this morning ... I had in mind a picture, which Barnack took. It shows a bridge (don't have a copy handy, though. When's his birthday anyway?). If we photograph any bridge in that particular month we could visually build a relationship between his birthday, his idea, our tools and - to a certain extent - the subject he once photographed. Certainly not the same bridge as we are all from all over. A bridge should be somewhere in our area and most likely we can get there with only little effort. With some luck this could stress that from his idea and Leica's first steps the tool got spread around the world and coherent into a community across countries and borders. And that it turned into pictures decades later. The subject 'bridge' would add to it too. OT: 'firoze' got some advantages having Mumbai's impressive bridge in his backyard. I'm quite keen to have a mutually agreed concept so we can work out our demand. Then we can talk numbers. We get a lot of very nice pictures here and when we do it together it is not so expensive to get a side with the picture and a short story... what do you think about it?! ...I did my Book about "Bilbao" myself and it works very well, you can't by a copy now... regards, Jan Jan, what are your thoughts on style, content and how to put this together? Some commited themself to a contribution in one way or another such as contributing photographs, activly working on the project, managing it, or both. The three or more pages of this thread lead me to file a summary. From what I can make out is that one idea about the subject is loosely accepted:- On the date of O. Barnak's birthday a bridge is going to be photographed by ourself from any location (from all-over) with Leica tools ranging from Ur-Leica up to top of the range R9 w/DMR. A portfolio has then be put together to build a set of photographs which are then going to be printed in a book of around 100 up to around 250 pages. Some numbers are flying around of USD 100 or 200 per contributor. There is also some sort of acknowledgement that a small group of enthusiasts are required to put themself into the ejector seat in order to keep track of this project. Is my asumption correct....?
