Advertisement Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Hi arnaudhaifa, Take a look here Chanel & Leica. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lanetomlane Posted April 27, 2009 Share #22 Posted April 27, 2009 It must be my age. I looked at the camera first. What camera?

Nicoleica Posted May 5, 2009 Share #24 Posted May 5, 2009 Who cares if it's true or factual... it's just beautifull:Chanel N°5 I knew there was a reason why I wear that Perfume. I agree with Paga, why worry that the film covers everything from the 20's onwards. It's a beautifully made and very romantic film. I wish that I could live in that world. Nicoleica Posted May 5, 2009 Share #25 Posted May 5, 2009 If it is just a promo shot why are Leica & M8 logos hidden? Any idea? Could it be perhaps due to that it's from a Chanel advertisement, not a Leica one?
coup de foudre Posted May 5, 2009 Share #26 Posted May 5, 2009 Could it be perhaps due to that it's from a Chanel advertisement, not a Leica one? i would be really pleased if this showed up in some advert in a big magazine. i could show it to my mother and she wouldn't get quite as angry at me that i spend money on lenses instead of clothes
dpattinson Posted May 5, 2009 Share #27 Posted May 5, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) If it is just a promo shot why are Leica & M8 logos hidden? Any idea? I think it's her own camera, and this is a shot taken on the set of the commercial - not an actual still to be used in the commercial. As for the masking - I don't think you have to look far to find an answer to that one... there are plenty of people on the forum who tape over the logos on their camera. Apparently it discourages thieves...

(Watch the 2'20 version.)
dpattinson Posted May 5, 2009 Share #29 Posted May 5, 2009 Hi David, Did you watch the advertisement? Near to the end she uses the M8 to take a photograph from the boat, and then reviews the image on the LCD. (Watch the 2'20 version.) In that case, I imagine the Leica logos are hidden because Leica didn't pay the placement fee. No TV worth watching where I am. Is it online? I tried following your Chanel No5 link but just got a static page.
Nicoleica Posted May 5, 2009 Share #30 Posted May 5, 2009 Hi David, If you click on Paga's link above it will take you to the advertisement. It does take a little while to load. But after the first section, you will have the choice of two versions to watch. Good luck.
JHAG Posted May 5, 2009 Share #31 Posted May 5, 2009 (edited) You should see a doctor about that. As much as I adore the devine Audrey, I hope the film is better than the last two clunkers of hers I've seen - "The Long Engagement" and "The Da Vinci Code". Quite simple, 80 % of french cinema is pure garbage (half mimicking the worst of american movies, not the great ones, half recounting poor totally boring bourgeois stories). Luc Besson and their ilk being the topmost fraud. Meanwhile real imaginative movie makers like my friend Charles Najman, who got one of the most prestigious prizes for one of his films, are struggling. And dozens of my colleagues writers or screenplaywriters would agree. Coco is a big ordinary piece of docudrama, without an ounce of imagination. Tell me about L'Avventura or the the Pan's Labyrinth. Pan's Labyrinth | Official Movie Site | Picturehouse These are movies we can speak of, years on. Besides, one never could say how ads movies are eating up the aesthetics of one too many movie maker with false statements. I know a little about this, I worked with one of them… Edited May 5, 2009 by JHAG

JHAG Posted May 5, 2009 Share #33 Posted May 5, 2009 does anybody recognise which lens? Most probably a 75 Summicron.
stunsworth Posted May 5, 2009 Share #34 Posted May 5, 2009 Quite simple, 80 % of french cinema is pure garbage ... That's still a better hit rate than US cinema <grin>.
JHAG Posted May 5, 2009 Share #35 Posted May 5, 2009 That's still a better hit rate than US cinema <grin>. Well, for real invention, now, you'll have to looks towards China or Mexico.
carstenw Posted May 5, 2009 Share #36 Posted May 5, 2009 Most probably a 75 Summicron. The way it flares I thought an Apo-90, but in any case, one of those two.
Nicoleica Posted May 5, 2009 Share #37 Posted May 5, 2009 (edited) I couldn't quite make out the lens details, but it was at 1/360s and ISO 160, frame number 32/40 if that helps. Edited May 5, 2009 by Nicoleica oops! typo!

The way it flares I thought an Apo-90, but in any case, one of those two. thanks, guys. my boyfriend thought it was the Nocti and i was reckoning the 75 Lux -- though i didn't really think she would use either in that situation. regardless, i'm glad he's starting to get geeky and feel some pride over my lenses since he still doesn't quite get the whole RF mystique. paga Posted May 5, 2009 Share #39 Posted May 5, 2009 90 APO seems a nice guess, but really DO WE CARE?! It's a commercial to sell glamour for Christ sake, it's not the next Palme d'Or in Canne 2010 and it's well made (Jean Pierre Jeunet style but not too much, not too heavy), it is good enough to make you feel good and dreamy: I like dreaming a bit (OK I also like Audrey Tautou a lot), nothing less nothing more folks
