Advertisement Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 Hi marknorton, Take a look here Good News from the UK. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wattsy Posted November 1, 2006 Share #2 Posted November 1, 2006 I've just been offered a chrome one too but prefer black. I'm pondering it for a little while. I'm told by this dealer that there will not be another delivery until next month.
wattsy Posted November 1, 2006 Share #3 Posted November 1, 2006 Even better news. The dealer has found me a black M8 (somebody ahead of me in the queue is happy to wait until next month). Should have it tomorrow.

marknorton Posted November 1, 2006 Author Share #6 Posted November 1, 2006 Thanks to Brad and Guy... According to the dealer (Robert White), they had a delivery of 3 cameras, no more till December, 1 black, 2 chrome. I was No 2 in the list and No 1 went for black. Since I am getting one of each, I've just switched my order with the other dealer to black so not a problem. Hope you guys get yours cameras soon, it's really good they are actually shipping them ahead of schedule. Not much sleep for me tonight, working to clear the decks work-wise to free-up some quality M8-time!
wattsy Posted November 1, 2006 Share #7 Posted November 1, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Slightly off-topic but my dealer has confirmed to me that the M8 comes with a passport warranty (there is an application form inside the box). There have been suggestions that the M8 would be like the DMR and not have the passport coverage. The situation might be different with other Leica distributors (I am in the UK). Guest guy_mancuso Posted November 1, 2006 Share #8 Posted November 1, 2006 I am expecting them to hit the states this week. Not sure I have much time for it, shooting all week than big project starts Monday. i'm sure i will squeeze some off. Looking forward to actually using those lenses instead of looking at them

gloec Posted November 1, 2006 Share #10 Posted November 1, 2006 It seems that LEICA produced more chrome than black cameras. Here in Greece they are sending only chrome cameras and unfortunately I will have to wait for sometime for a black one, at least until the next shipment... spylaw4 Posted November 1, 2006 Share #12 Posted November 1, 2006 A central London dealer informs me today that he received 3 M8's this morning - all gone to 3 lucky people.
fotografr Posted November 1, 2006 Share #13 Posted November 1, 2006 What could they possibly be thinking at the Leica factory to produce more chrome than black bodies????? I suspect black outsells chrome by a 10 to 1 margin.

Hi Chris--The worst part is on the black bodies they changed the red Leica dot to green. Have you reserved yours yet? ;-)) Welcome, dear visitor! Leica produces 2/3 black and 1/3 silver cromed M8 (as my dealer in Hamburg told me, and they are in business with Leica since 1925)
johnbuckley Posted November 1, 2006 Share #18 Posted November 1, 2006 Just had the happy conversation with my dealer, who admittedly has viewed me as a bit of a stalker lately. Nonetheless, he expects delivery of two M8s tomorrow. I am #1 on his list. He has ten others that he's ordered that he won't get this week. Now, his is a serious camera shop in a suburban US market, but you wouldn't say his is a big store. He has very good relations with Leica, but still, not a big store. My sense is that if he is getting two tomorrow, Leica is trying very hard to take care of all of their dealers, with enough deliveries so that they can take care of their #1 and #2 people on their lists. And, in so doing, get us stalkers to leave them alone ;-)
B&W Posted November 1, 2006 Share #19 Posted November 1, 2006 You lucky people. I expect to get my M8 in the end of November
marknorton Posted November 1, 2006 Author Share #20 Posted November 1, 2006 I expect they had to make a guess at some point for the initial build and I saw figures of 50/50 for the initial build. That screetching noise you can hear is the brakes being applied to the silver chrome parts production line...
