aesop Posted April 16, 2009 Share #2 Posted April 16, 2009 THE ZEN OF FILM vs. DIGITAL GRATIFICATION doug menuez 2.0: go fast, don’t crash ...a.k.a. "The image, the client and bread on your table". This piece proffers further evidence on how far the photographic mindset has travelled (evolved, regressed?). Yes, there are generalisations, but it underscores, quite succinctly, the issue of digital thinking (or lack of it). Superb stuff, kenneth, thanks for posting. wildlightphoto Posted April 18, 2009 Share #4 Posted April 18, 2009 As I read the piece it's a much a manual vs. automatic debate as it is film vs. digital. The unfortunate fact is that nearly every digital camera is also optimized for automatic use (viewfinders especially!). I feel very fortunate to be using a DSLR optimized for manual focus, and being able to use the same awesome lenses on my Leicaflex SL is icing on the cake. I've also taped the R8's mode selector on (m). For me the digital vs. film debate is over, likewise the manual vs. automatic debate. I'd love to have the winning side of both of these debates in a single camera. I'd call the camera Leicaflex dSL.
