Advertisement Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Hi pascal_meheut, Take a look here My M8 is at the shop. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
fotografr Posted October 31, 2006 Share #62 Posted October 31, 2006 There is however one question I do have (forgive me if I missed something): I read somewhere that Leica (or a dealer) stated that the shipped units would be loaded with a newer firmware version than 1.06. Pascal says he has 1.06. Any well informed opinion? Well, they have to unload all those early test models somewhere.

pascal_meheut Posted October 31, 2006 Author Share #67 Posted October 31, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) No, you should read my post above. At least one dealer in France got all the M8 he had reserved today + 2 silver ones. Sorry
larry Posted October 31, 2006 Share #68 Posted October 31, 2006 Now that M8 sightings are starting to occur, maybe someone should set up a betting pool to guess their availability by order of country. Maybe Leica would kick in an M8 as the prize for the person who most closely matches the order? (Please don't take any of this seriously.) robsteve Posted October 31, 2006 Share #71 Posted October 31, 2006 and french photographer made the leica uber-famous (HCB) When I was in Paris, one of the shops, "House of Leica" had a HCB cheque posted on the wall. They figured it was worth more to them to display his cheque than deposit it. How many shops can say they have HCB as a customer? Although, if your cheque is posted on the wall at some North American retailers, it means the cheque bounced
bradreiman Posted October 31, 2006 Share #72 Posted October 31, 2006 i went to this shop "house of leica" as well, about three months ago. the proprietor was joking about how he had no business, only inquiries about the "digital m". im sure hes relieved to be back in business. what a great street full of lovely camera shops too. leicas everywhere. i was in heaven....b
MSmelik Posted October 31, 2006 Share #73 Posted October 31, 2006 a well, Germans seem to propose anybody as fakes as long as the Germans don't come up first in anything... nothing new here Just one minor reply to our German friends ..... You are not the best, fastest at anything so just lay back and enjoy somebody elses enjoyment at receving his stuff first.
MSmelik Posted October 31, 2006 Share #74 Posted October 31, 2006 But then on the other side I can see how people might think it's all a fake .... taping off the essential attributes, and then the french can't be trusted either... history proves that ... hehehehehe
wparsonsgisnet Posted October 31, 2006 Share #75 Posted October 31, 2006 In a couple of weeks we'll be so busy trying to figure out how to take pictures with the M8 that we won't be worrying about anything else. And -- once again -- I'll be in the computer business: Capture One (probably Pro), some B/W pricessing sw, Still Another external disk to join my storage farm, many hours spent recalibrating, and with any luck, some of the most beautiful prints I have ever made. Pascal, show us some nice pictures. We're all pleased for you.
Guest guy_mancuso Posted October 31, 2006 Share #76 Posted October 31, 2006 Pascal got your note on the Transend cards working okay, that is good news since I have 10 of them for the DMR. I am out for the week on a shoot in Tulsa, no Leica dealers here. But would love to come home to a silver box waiting for me. I will take my 50 th BD present to myself a month early. Robert, when I was there it looked like a photocopy rather than the original - perhaps they're not stupid :-)

bradreiman Posted November 1, 2006 Share #79 Posted November 1, 2006 i just walked in to the local leica dealer (im travelling) and asked when they were getting their first shipment. they said they are getting one on friday in black anodized finished so...i proceeded to ask them how long their waiting list is? the nice young man said they have noone on the waiting list and that if i put a thousand dollar deposit down i could have their first one on friday (im leaving saturday). so there you have it, im getting mine friday. now i have to figure out what to do with the deposit i have at samy's in la (im 21st on the waiting list there). maybe a 28/2.8asph, definitely a 1.25 magnifier, definitely no tri-x for a while....b
