agree, the church photo without clouds would definitely loose its expression.

 

Sometime ago I read an article about an architecture photographer who made all his photos on days with gray skies. Looking at his photos I recognized that there was nothing which detracted the eyes from the buildings. Pure concentration on the motif, no emotion, simply documentary purpose driven.

 

I believe there is no right or wrong, it depends on what you want to express... and the church photo is marvelous (i it reminds me on a tiny village called "Shafter" in south-west Texas, close to Bend NP), it has this very decent character, which I love very much.
