plasticman Posted March 28, 2009 Share #1 Posted March 28, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Maybe not the appropriate place to ask, but I'm nervy about LFI these days: in my experience they tend not to respond to reports of missing magazines in any way whatsoever, so now that March is nearly over and I haven't received my copy, I'm just wondering if others have received their's? peter_n Posted March 29, 2009 Share #4 Posted March 29, 2009 My February issue was actually mailed in the US and I'm wondering if that was a one off. Nice to get an issue that wasn't all bashed up.
dkCambridgeshire Posted March 29, 2009 Share #5 Posted March 29, 2009 Last week I qualified for a free subscription following an M8.2 purchase and was hoping to start with the April issue ... but 2 days ago I received the February copy which I'd already bought. plasticman Posted March 29, 2009 Author Share #6 Posted March 29, 2009 Well - thanks for taking the time to reply all of you - excuse me for saying that I'd rather people didn't bother if they can't resist snide comments. The issue is 03-2009 - that's March, as far as I'm concerned - and I'd missed the little date notification on the site. I've had two issues not arrive in the past, and each time I've carefully notified LFI. The only response is an email acknowledgement, but never any magazine. That's why I was nervous. I have no idea why people feel they have to be rude here all the time?

plasticman Posted March 29, 2009 Author Share #8 Posted March 29, 2009 I still enjoy it, though. It's just a pity that their distribution system seems a little haphazard. Somehow the annoyance is more acute when the website has a function for reporting missing copies, which generates an automated response as I said, and then does nothing else... Plasticman, If it doesn' t cost a ridiculous sum of money, why don't you call the European distributor of LFI?. I live close to the US distributor and have often called about distribution problems, they have always been courteous and have told me when certain issues have been shipped out from their warehouse. This way I have always have able to "track" delivery through my local post office. BTW, in the US, it is sent as "dated material" putting pressure on the US Post Offices to deliver in a very timely manner. Hope this helps. You mean screwball posers? That was a hilarious feature...I wish all our "gangs" in america looked like a bunch of George Clooney stunt doubles. You Europeans have such clean cut and pleasant looking thugs I hardly would mind getting held up. I might get some grooming and style tips in the bargin! sdai Posted March 30, 2009 Share #12 Posted March 30, 2009 Well ... LFI publishes 10 times in a year and Leica's product cycle seems to be forever, what do you expect them to use to fill up the blank pages? LOL

You Europeans have such clean cut and pleasant looking thugs I hardly would mind getting held up. I might get some grooming and style tips in the bargin! Not so fast... Obviously, we can't hope to emulate the heights of American street gangs, but here's an article from The Daily Telegraph in June 2008. Roughly a teenager a week is getting stabbed on London streets. peter_n Posted April 1, 2009 Share #16 Posted April 1, 2009 There are certainly real thugs in Europe. I think Dan was alluding to the fact that the "gangs" in the LFI article were poseurs and he just overgeneralized a bit. To be fair to the author, he recognizes that they aren't really nasty: "...the lot of them are much more amiable than they like to present themselves. The gangster look is part of the game." So yes this particular lot are poseurs and that's obvious from the pictures. The whole thing was a spoof I think.
jaapv Posted April 1, 2009 Share #17 Posted April 1, 2009 I got mine this morning. Nice and solidly packed from Switzerland. Good articles on the D-Lux 4 as travel camera, the design story of the S2 ( on schedule for delivery this summer, it says!) and great images by Nina Berman. There is an Artist and Artisan half-case out for the M8, which I personally find hideous, but others may love it.... A special case for the D-Lux 4 is announced between the lines, which will take the grip and viewfinder.
Andrew Spackman Posted April 2, 2009 Share #18 Posted April 2, 2009 And my copy of LFI 3/2009 arrived this morning here in the UK, also posted from Switzerland and very well packed - much better than previously. I had thought that my subscription had expired with 2/2009 and I hadn't seen a renewal notice, but then I see on the LFI website that if you take out a subscription it gets automatically renewed for a second year. Can't remember having seen that originally. It's always a pleasant surprise when an issue arrives as in the years I have been subscribing I have lost count of the changes in UK distributors, with more than one of them sinking with all hands and taking the remnants of prepaid subscriptions with them. modschiedler Posted April 2, 2009 Share #20 Posted April 2, 2009 March 31. No March LFI in my house. Hi all, maybe you should not forget that (as it says in the Imprint as well) LFI is a magazine which appears 8 times a year. So issue No 3 is by no means to be the March issue. It’s just No 3 out of 8. It’s so easy. Cheers
