Jamie Roberts Posted April 8, 2009 Share #81 Posted April 8, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) IS there some special setting I'm missing in C4 since I think their images are too warm (red and yellow)..? What is your primary setting for DMR work in C4..? (Also, if anybody is using Aperture for DMR and like it, what is the settings in Aperture for you?) Thorsten, if you find C1 is too warm for your taste with a neutral white balance and the right profile then you can do one of three simple things: use a different profile--I like the Phase back profiles for the DMR since the sensors are all Kodak and have a family resemblance for sure. I think I mentioned you can also use the FlexColor DMR interpretation if you like (it's very good for skin tones). But you have to install it where C1 V4 can find it... the benefit of using the P20 or P21+ profiles is that they're right there for you already. Go to the color tab then select the menu for the tint dialog. Click on "Cool look" and voila! You can then apply that to all your files Use the color editor in C1 and make a preset OR save the result as a new ICC profile you can use. Here are some samples (cropped from the admirable R19 Elmarit!). BTW--they're all showing warmer than in C1 or PS with an unmanaged browser. You should just download them to have a look (the profile is attached to each shot), but it still gives you an idea. First, a group shot with the default profile and a typical white balance. Even in a colour-managed browser, this is too red and too yellow by quite a lot, actually. BTW--you could fix this with the white balance if you're not picky about neutrals or are going to tweak them for print later: Welcome, dear visitor! But here's the exact same shot, but I've gone to the colour tab and clicked on "Cool Look" from the tint menu pulldown. This is much better, the skin isn't too yellow (in a colour managed app) and the reds are pretty much right on: Finally, using the P20 "Portrait natural" profile in C1 Pro. This is in between; skin measures perfectly and the reds have a little more warmth. I use this one (or one of the other Phase profiles) all the time: BTW--it looks like C1 is only reading its local profiles again. For awhile it would read the system profiles too--I wish they'd stop doing that (I'll need to get the flex color profiles re-installed )
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members!
