vla Posted March 25, 2009 Share #9 Â Posted March 25, 2009 luminous still life! Â congrats, all three are distinctive for light and clarity. i believe that in 1 and 2 this effect is achieved by the reflection of light on the wood and the keyboard respectively and the strong contrast between light and dark sections of the images. Â although i generally dislike pictures of arms i have to confess that 3 is my favorite - powerful geometry, beautiful details, very clever selective focus - and then of course - the fact that in reality it's a color shot - very sophisticated .... Â the only minor suggestion i'd have is to work on lighting of image 3 - it looks as if the image was taken under difficult available light. as a result the blades of the swords look dull. i don't know whether post processing can handle this, but i'd give it a strong try to increase luminosity in the left-hand section of the image. the handles on the right-hand side, though, just look fine to me. Â just my 2 cents ... Â markus

mmk60 Posted March 26, 2009 Author Share #11 Â Posted March 26, 2009 @ all - thank you for reviewing my humble photos and your comments. Â @ Markus - thank you for your suggestion. It was taken, yes, in a difficult "side" lighting condition. The blades were displayed on a wall near the front entrance of the museum and the only light was the day light coming through the front entrance. I was in a group tour through the museum and I had to take the shot fairly quickly. I would try to lighten up the shadow area but I am afraid that it would make the shadow area noisy and mushy...
