topoxforddoc Posted March 10, 2009 Share #3 Posted March 10, 2009 Marko, This happens if a CLA is done by some technicians. I'm told by Peter Grisalfi at CRR Luton (probably the UK's best Leica technician) that the button needs a special tool to secure it properly. This very thing happened to my 1958 Button RW M2 last year. It had been CLAd by an US technician and Peter said this was due to the button not being secured with the correct tool. Charlie I see, so it will work fine for the time being, but I should have a tech such as "Sherry K" here in the US tighen it up for me...?

topoxforddoc Posted March 10, 2009 Share #6 Posted March 10, 2009 The button just keeps spinning it never stops, and the other little metal piece that is outside the button flops in and out The problems (loose ring and spinning button) are caused by inadequate fixing of the button and ring. Eventually the button falls off! Mine did and then I found out! Charlie

Absolutely. Sherry has been working on all my film Leicas, lenses, and MR meters since 1981. She does great work. I only wish she would take on M8 cameras. Frase Posted March 12, 2009 Share #9 Posted March 12, 2009 You don't need any special tools to tighten it jam a piece of rubber or a screwdriver wrapped in a rubber band so that when you turn the screw only the screw turns.
35photo Posted March 16, 2009 Author Share #10 Posted March 16, 2009 After speaking with Sherry about this issue, I also found that I'm missing a spring as well for the button. So she will be taking a look at it soon. Otherwise the camera works great just processed my first roll with it, everything looks good so far. Oh another thing does anyone know how to remove the little PC flash sync? Someone who owned that camera before me must have had it installed. I have no need for it. I tried to unscrew it/ pull it out and nothing...? Marko
