Hi,

My nice Panasonic LC1 has decided to stop working. More precisely it won't take pictures any more. The viewfinder is black only the info in the viewfinder is still visible. You can still watch old photos that are on an SD card.

The only thing I did differently was to use a 2 GB Kingston card and not my normal 1GB card.

Has anybody heard about something like that. I am trying to find out if it is economical to repair the camera.

Any comment is greatly appreciated.

Volker,

I use a 2gig Crucial card in my D2 without any problems, so the card size in it self isn't what caused it. I could be wrong, but I don't beleive this is related to the card unless it had a short or something that caused the camera to fail. Was this a new card or had you used it before in another device?

Thanks for the info Carl, so it seems to be not the cards fault. The card was new but it works fine in other cameras,

Volker,

I can get my D2 to do exactly what you're describing.

And when I remove the lens cap it all works perfectly again. No offence intended; sometimes the obvious things get overlooked so I thought I'd mention it. :o Hope for your wallet's sake that this is the problem.

Pete.

Hi Pete, no offence taken, but it would have been a nice solution. Something like that happened to me with a petal sunshade on a Canon lens. We all thought something was wrong with the lens, but the sunshade was just not put on properly.
