adan Posted March 7, 2009 Share #21 Posted March 7, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) If you can't find an official red dot easily, go to a stationer's and get a box of red map pins - the kind used to locate things on maps, with round plastic heads. Cut the head off one and split it in half - use Superglue (methacrylate) to glue it into the empty spot on the lens.

jaapv Posted March 7, 2009 Share #24 Posted March 7, 2009 Just mail Leica and they will send a new one fee of charge. Stick it on using contact glue - NOT superglue.
Guest Posted March 7, 2009 Share #25 Posted March 7, 2009 'fraid not, it's over three years old now. A favorite lens, I use it a lot. I would contact your nearest Leica distributer or Solms.Ask politally and offer to pay.The chances are they will send you one free of charge by return.I have found that a polite letter /email/or phone call inevitably get a good response.Leica is a prestige product and I have always had good service from a polite request. Isabelle Lenatio Posted March 7, 2009 Share #26 Posted March 7, 2009 Pretty serious state of affairs I'm afraid .... red dots lead to greens stripes and you know where thats going to take you don't you. As for nail varnish you'de need to find the particular Leica red which is not as easy as you might think, unless you want to end up with a pink dot .... I would personally try Paloma Picasso nail varnish, they have quite a few distinctive reds in their collection.... And wouldn't anyone rather prefer Paloma Picasso nail varnish to a Portuguese, or probably Chinese plastic red dot... you might be starting a new trend here, the Safari green has passed over gently, now we can all get ready for the Paloma red-dot .... Isabelle Lenatio Posted March 7, 2009 Share #27 Posted March 7, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Paloma Picasso signature Leica optics .... I bet you there would a few punters here whom would actually purchase such an item, even at a 25% uplift...

Isabelle Lenatio Posted March 7, 2009 Share #29 Posted March 7, 2009 ... actually when coming to think of it Paloma Picasso does have a brilliant collection of red coloured facial attributes but none of you die hard Leica warriors would know this ... or? :-)
Isabelle Lenatio Posted March 7, 2009 Share #30 Posted March 7, 2009 Sorry for carrying on, but I'm just following the trend of this posting which I find rather amusing.... just the title makes me smile "Help my red dot fell off" and this coming from a MAN (just a guess this actually)
Isabelle Lenatio Posted March 7, 2009 Share #31 Posted March 7, 2009 ... "well actually to tell you the truth it was awful" "no... really why?" "well I was out taking images of wallabees and my red dot came off.... it was an astoundingly horrible experience, some thing that will mark my future life for sure" see what I mean ...... even if he does wear Camel Outback clothes, and has a 3 day beard, looks a bit like Clooney, talks like Alain Delon .... it would be over! Isabelle Lenatio Posted March 7, 2009 Share #34 Posted March 7, 2009 For a woman you don't half write like a bloke. Got to tell you the truth now steve ... Isabelle Lenatio Posted March 7, 2009 Share #35 Posted March 7, 2009 For a woman you don't half write like a bloke. But just out of interest Steve, how do women write as opposed to men and vice versa, you seem to have a clear understanding of this which I am interested to hear more about, so please be so kind as to elaborate
NZDavid Posted March 7, 2009 Author Share #36 Posted March 7, 2009 Allan: You're lucky to have a super race venue -- and lots of moto photo ops. Isabelle: Love your writing style! Without knowing anything about makeup (unlike Steve), it's sooo hard for me to choose, so thanks for the tips. After a day out in the wilderness, things could get tricky. 'Course, everything still functions fine, but how do you line up your tools in the dark if you can't find the red dot? Things have to be simple for men. farnz Posted March 7, 2009 Share #37 Posted March 7, 2009 ... "well I was out taking images of wallabees ... You'd need a very very long lens to take pictures of Wallabies in NZ. stunsworth Posted March 7, 2009 Share #39 Posted March 7, 2009 ...so please be so kind as to elaborate Too many persistent references to 'girlie' things such as handbags, shoes, make up and nail varnish. While most women I know are interested in these they don't pepper their conversations with them. It's as if you're trying _too_ hard to let us know you're a woman. I could of course be wrong since we've not met.
NZDavid Posted March 8, 2009 Author Share #40 Posted March 8, 2009 Camels, the Outback and corks (to ward off the flies) are also Strine. Wallabies are also their national rugby team, which despite now being coached by a Kiwi, have failed to win too much in recent times...
