miami91 Posted March 6, 2009 Share #3 Posted March 6, 2009 Red dot has fallen off my 24 Elmarit ASPH. I can see the indentation where it went but can't find the dot itself. Solutions? These are typically obtainable from your Leica distributor or national service center. Since I don't believe Leica has staffed offices in New Zealand, you would probably want to direct your request to headquarters in Solms Germany, or you may want to try the designated sales agent for New Zealand, which is Lacklands Ltd in Auckland. Their contact information is available here: Leica Camera AG - Contact Best of luck. Jeff.

NZDavid Posted March 6, 2009 Author Share #6 Posted March 6, 2009 Ladybirds - a cute lens adornment. Thanks, I'll try Lacklands or Leica direct. How much for a red dot, do you suppose? I was wondering about a sticker or splodge of paint. At least I can see the mark -- I'd hate to misalign the lens.

David, My recollection from others who have purchased replacement dots from Leica (either the red lens dot or the Leica wordmark dot for the front of the camera) is that the charge is very nominal --- probably a few dollars for a strip of them. Then you just use a dot of super glue. Jeff.

therbert Posted March 6, 2009 Share #10 Posted March 6, 2009 Several years ago I had the same thing happen with my 35mm asph cron. I phoned or emailed Leica (USA) and they sent me a new one in the mail, without charge. I applied it with a drop of super glue (that cyanoacrylic stuff). I'm sure that a service center somewhere would send you a red dot or two.
NZDavid Posted March 6, 2009 Author Share #11 Posted March 6, 2009 Thanks for all your help. I'll try Leica for new one or even nail polish! Lens still works, of course (or do I need to buy a new one?), but dot does help align it correctly. Cheers, David
