lambroving Posted November 2, 2006 Share #41 Posted November 2, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Ron, Like the shot of our car with Barry's and recall that you told me to speed up so that we could include Bill's Plus 8 in that other shot. Keep posting these, please. I would SO much rather be there than here right now... Winter is fast approaching... P.S. Andy must like those pubs which still serve "mushy peas" with their Real Ales. No thanks!

fotografr Posted November 2, 2006 Share #42 Posted November 2, 2006 William--Speaking of real ales, I've been looking for Hook Norton ever since your post but can't find the stuff anywhere!
andybarton Posted November 2, 2006 Share #43 Posted November 2, 2006 P.S. Andy must like those pubs which still serve "mushy peas" with their Real Ales. No thanks! Sorry, William. Mushy peas are a "Northern" thing. Not my style, seeing as how I am not a Northerner. (Although they do go with fish and chips, I have to admit.) Real ale comes with a serving of sturgeon's bladder in the bottom, of course.

(Although they do go with fish and chips, I have to admit.) Indeed they are a northern thing - a bit like pigeon peas, and I like both :-). A bit of vinegar gives them a lift. Reminds me about the old line about Peter Mandleson (a UK politician) who went into a fish and chip shop and expressed his suprise that they sold guacomol :-)
elansprint72 Posted November 2, 2006 Share #45 Posted November 2, 2006 Andy, a lot of pubs seems to be converted into "restaurant-pubs". But I´ve also seen the classic ones with very basic menus. Ron Not far from me a country pub underwent the obligatory re-furb, when it re-opened having added 30% to the prices, it pronounced itself to ba a "Gastro-Pub" on a large painted sign. Two days later, a local wag had painted ^ enteritis rather expertly in exactly the right shade and style!

Brent, do you get beers like Hook Norton draught in the US or in bottles? I've never been that keen personally on bottled bitters.
