Zelig Posted March 2, 2009 Share #1 Posted March 2, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi everyone! I had my first Leica last friday and was a D-Lux 4, after time wondering about a M8 I heard my pocket in those crisis times, and went for the son ;-). I work with DSLR and allways Nikon. (When Nikon f2 was hardworking in Vietnam, Canon was making xerocopiers) D2Xs, with several great lenses (10mm f.2,8, 300mm f2.8, 18-200mm, 70-300mm f.3.5-5.6, AI series: 50mm f1.2 noct, 500mm f.8 reflex, 24mm f2.8 and an old F3 w/speedmotor (stillusable). And allways lliked hard and contrasted images from nikkor lenses and Kodachrome 25, but always being fascinated to try with "this called soft ligth magic colors from Leica", Well sorry for being so dense, but just to say that after 2 days, several hours with my D-Lux 4 and 300 photos after... I'm very impressed, I now what a noct. lens is, but this 2.0-2.8 Vario-Summicron is AMAIZING!!!! I jus begun my contact with the camera but first impression could not be better, and results are GREAT. I wanted a near pro camera to come always with me and I think I found it! I will post you again when pictures would be uploaded yo my site. I also appreciate Capture One to optimize Raw files, only I use.

AlanG Posted March 2, 2009 Share #2 Posted March 2, 2009 I work with DSLR and allways Nikon. (When Nikon f2 was hardworking in Vietnam, Canon was making xerocopiers) ... Just as a point of information, Canon marketed its first camera around 1936 and Nikon marketed its first camera in 1948. Canon was selling its F1 at the time Nikon was selling the F2. Zelig Posted March 2, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted March 2, 2009 Sorry Alan I Apologize, after writting this I was temptet to erase the line, but was just a little joke not exempted of true. You can see with me how Nikon was focused on HardPro cameras meanwhile Canon focused other areas and Pro people till the beginning pf digital was mostly Nikon. Anyway I think we both said the true of facts, but if you dont agree I respect. Far from my intention begin crossfires about personal preferences. Please just just accept my apologizes. Just see newspapers and magazines from these years and everything is told And I'm sure you understand what "apologize" means. Sorry for introducing non Leica themes. But, please, just take my part dedicated to Leica D-Lux 4. I still enjoying it. Thank you for your wellcome.
ho_co Posted March 3, 2009 Share #7 Posted March 3, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Zelig--Welcome to the forum and to Leica. The D-Lux 4 is a delight to work with, and I'm glad you like it. I don't know where these forum thugs came from with their academic corrections of what was obviously a light-hearted and happy reaction to a new, if derivative, Leica. There's a lot to discover about the history and tradition of the brand, and the forum is generally a good place to get pointers and support. I'm glad you stood up to the folks who tried to take you down a peg. We do have our 'holier than thou' brigade as well (sometimes including me), but for the most part we're all pretty harmless. Welcome and good shooting!
