Advertisement Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Hi elansprint72, Take a look here Trains and boats and........ . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ejd Posted October 23, 2006 Share #2 Posted October 23, 2006 Aah -- Kingswear! (for Dartmouth). Wonderful spot. I've been in and out by boat many times. I'd love to come on the train from Paignton. The station at Kingswear was used as the set for Exeter Station in the film of 'The French Lieutenant's Woman'. The Dart is a very beautiful river. biglouis Posted October 24, 2006 Share #5 Posted October 24, 2006 Fantastic shot. So much of interest and I like the way the foreground and background are separated by the different levels of contrast. I wonder what a crop and enlargement to the train would reveal? azzo Posted October 24, 2006 Share #6 Posted October 24, 2006 Pete, i liked your image so much that i had to open in PS and do some things ! I would like you to try it out if you've time and see if it works for you. Crop out exactly from the 2 boats on the right. Slightly from the top, eliminating the bit of sky. Crop the 1st boat on the left also. I then added 10 contrast and minused 5 brightness. Nice both in colour and in B&W. THIS IS ONLY A SUGGESTION ! kld Posted October 24, 2006 Share #7 Posted October 24, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Pete, a very nice photo. In Germany the steam engine actually would evoke just one word .. "Feinstaub". -- Klaus
elansprint72 Posted October 25, 2006 Author Share #8 Posted October 25, 2006 Thanks for the encouraging comments; I had already cropped some off the bottom and left to produce this. What I like about this type of complex shot is that, as you guys have suggested, there are quite a few different photos to be had from the one frame. Cheers, Pete. albert Posted October 26, 2006 Share #9 Posted October 26, 2006 Pete, Makes me want to travel......I haven't seen steam since I spend two years in Germany, during the late sixties. Evocative, & a good picture too.....Al
