graeme_clarke Posted February 9, 2009 Share #1 Posted February 9, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I used V1.3 for the first time yesterday. Pictures taken with a 28-90 seem to have a magenta cast, not so noticeable with a 180. It certainly gives a better balanced picture on the review screen. I've posted three pictures on the Technology and Industry section. The text reads: The French aircraft carrier Clemenceau comes into the River Tees, UK, to be broken up at the Able UK yard. Mid afternoon on February 8th 2009. The ship dwarfs the blast furnace behind picture No2, which is part of the Corus steelworks at Redcar. R9+DMR. First picture with 28-90mm, others with 180mm. Firmware V1.3 which seems to give a magenta cast. A bit oversharpened! Anyone else having a similar issue? Graeme
Advertisement Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Hi graeme_clarke, Take a look here DMR V1.3 - Clemenceau's last voyage. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
topoxforddoc Posted February 9, 2009 Share #2 Posted February 9, 2009 Graeme, Great ship - sorry sight now. The pictures look a bit noisy. Did you take these at high ISOs? If you did, then sometimes I've noticed an odd cast on my DMR v1.3 - not always magenta. It's more to do with WB, I think, at low light levels. graeme_clarke Posted February 9, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted February 9, 2009 Thanks for the helpful comment Charlie. Taken at iso 200 so not high. More experimenting needed! Graeme
robsteve Posted February 9, 2009 Share #4 Posted February 9, 2009 If you had the DMR on AWB, the colours of the Ship and water, probably threw off the AWB. I found the AWB works best on the DMR if there is at least one neutral coloured object in the picture. As for the noise/grain, it looks like they may have been underexposed. graeme_clarke Posted February 9, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted February 9, 2009 Thanks Robert - that may be it. +1.25 exposure helps for the sea and ship but burns out the sky, even though it was exposed using spot metering and no compensation. AWB that was used gave 5500K - it looks better at 4650 which brings the blue channel up to the same level as red and magenta. Graeme
