Looks like it worked well - it's a real piggy of a lens to focus critically - how Doug and John get their shots with movement too, I don't know - which Telyt have you got - 5.6 or 6.8 ?

(or is it one of the new ones ---Eeeek!!);)

Robert,

It's a cheapo 6.8, but it's still a bugger* to work with. The shoulder stock is pretty much uesless.

Wander round the streets of Manchester or Liverpool with one of these babies nestled in your arm, and you'd be photographing the inside of a cell overnight (if they weren't already full of real criminals...)

* For "bugger", read "challenge"

Andy..you need to "pad" the shoulder stock and also "rotate" the angle of the "lens camera" so that the fit is comfortable...it takes some getting used to.

Start like you did here with simple subjects , until you are confident about the stability and focusing point....now to get the 800mm Telyt S:)

Thanks for sharing

So logic says S800mm = 1120mm..wow now we are talking telephoto!!:)

1250mm was around the effective focal length I was working with on the shots I used to take with the D1 through the TeleVue Ranger scope. It was tripod-only work of course. No good for street shooting, but great for long-range birding.

Might be that the later type shoulder stock (the angular one) might be a bit more comfortable, combined with cable relaese (though I never have got mine working with the cable release yet..:o ) - remember if you do get nicked, you'll need the extenion tube so that you can photograph the other wall of the cell - otherwise you'll have to jam it between the bars in the window !!:) :)

(ps. as Doug Herr once pointed out never carry it pointing down between shots - the focus unwinds while you're walking !!) :)
