kennekam Posted February 2, 2009 Share #1 Posted February 2, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I received a case similar to this when I bought a IIIf. It is taller than the standard bag, but the lens space is very small, a collapsible Summarit 50 does not fit. Perhaps an Elmar might. The case fits my IIIf, but has a lot of space on top. The VIOOH does not fit, though. Does anyone know what this case is for?

This is a bag for Standard (or Ic/If with HFOOK (horizontal FOKOS) rangefinder and Elmar 3.5/50 collapsed or 3.5/35 or 6.3/28 lens ps : there is no collapsible Summarit
luigi bertolotti Posted February 2, 2009 Share #3 Posted February 2, 2009 Being so elongated on top, I think it's one of the cases for Leica Screw Mount without incorporated rangefinder and with the external rangefinder (the most common was coded FOKOS) mounted on the accessory shoe. I think to have some illustration of this kind of case, in some old catalog of mine... I'll check...
kennekam Posted February 2, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted February 2, 2009 Many thanks for the quick response, JC. I meant Summitar, not Summarit...... Any idea what this case could be worth? Mine has never been used and is in as new condition.
luigi bertolotti Posted February 2, 2009 Share #5 Posted February 2, 2009 Not the only instance in which me and friend JC have acted simultaneously... ... oh well, that's a 1955 catalog page... very similar (not the same) made for Leica Ig... the model depicted by the poster should be the ESOOG I think they are a bit rare but not too much, nor of great value... I suppose 70 to 120 or so Euro, if good.
UliWer Posted February 2, 2009 Share #6 Posted February 2, 2009 I would keep it in case you decide to add an indivdual viewfinder (SBLOO or SBOOI etc.) for you IIIf. They fit perfectly. Though i agree that it's a nuisance you can only use small lenses in it. Typical Leitz: different viewfinders, different hoods, different NOOKYS, different cases for each lense. I ruined my case for the II when i tried to close it with a collapsed Summar: the front part ripped off. So now i have an original Leitz half-case. The code-word for it was LUIGI
