anderswi Posted February 2, 2009 Share #2 Posted February 2, 2009 Neither could I, so I bought both. The black accessories are nice together with titanium. Fine contrast.

USA road racer Posted February 3, 2009 Share #5 Posted February 3, 2009 I would buy the black one. With the money saved, you could get EVERY accessory available for it & still have money left over!
Venkman Posted February 3, 2009 Share #6 Posted February 3, 2009 Let's see. Black version owns the titanium version in the price department. Both take pictures. Collector's value is a myth at 10k units. Titanium works better if you like to post pictures of your camera (camera porn). Panasonic LX3 owns both pricewise, but is ugly, takes good pictures though. Management Summary: the LX3 would suffice, the rest is a matter of personal taste. Dirk

For the money of a titanium one get a Lx3 and a Sigma DP1. The former as accessory around the neck, the latter to take pictures.

Regards, Bill Bill, You aren't entirely right there, colour does not matter - if you intend using it as a piece of photographic equipment. As a fashion accessory then I suspect colour is all that matters.

As a fashion accessory then I suspect colour is all that matters. This zero-sum argument is both tired and absurd. Ugly cameras don't take better pictures, and well-designed and aesthetically pleasing cameras are not necessarily inferior picture taking machines. Let somebody make a decision they feel good about for christ's sake and stop being a wet blanket. Jeff.

Let somebody make a decision they feel good about for christ's sake and stop being a wet blanket. Jeff. I do agree wholehearted. The camera do not take pictures. There are always people who think they have the patent on whats right and true. Freedom of choice is what it`s all about.

BerndReini Posted February 3, 2009 Share #15 Posted February 3, 2009 I was intrigued by the Titanium since I love Titanium for all the big M cameras, but with this I one, I felt it almost looked a little too precious i.e. like any other point and shoot camera. just my opinion, but when in doubt, black and red dot is the Leica tradition. Brown leather case is gorgeous.

anderswi Posted February 3, 2009 Share #17 Posted February 3, 2009 Sense of humour failure? I wear chinos and denim, but don´t use them as backgroundmaterial, for such simple things like cameras.

I suspect you might have missed earleygallery's subtle humour that some people might like to see how the DL4 black and Titan blend with chinos or denims before deciding which one to buy. No, I don´t think so. Colourblind was just a humouros question, which someone didn´t catch. I think it is fascinating how things, not at all related to the art of photography, can engage people. Cameras is just a workingtools, just like paint and brushes to artists. They don´t even bother to discuss the colour ot the brushes shafts. Or do they? Put a bad camera in the hands of good photographer and the result will be good, but how will it be the other way?
earleygallery Posted February 3, 2009 Share #20 Posted February 3, 2009 Indeed, I'm just wondering which body looks best with both options. I suspect that the Titanium camera will match the colour of chino's better than the black camera, whereas both will suit denim equally well. I totally agree with freedom of choice, I am one of the few who actually appear to like the Safari M8. Anyway, can't help people taking themselves much too seriously.
