All,

I am looking to use my R lenses (28/2.8 current, 60/2.8 current, 90/2 older version, 100/2.8 APO current, and the 180/2.8 APO current) on a Canon digital body maybe the 5D Mark II via adapters with focus confirmation. Any comments, recommendations, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Wayne

With the 5D2 i don't know. With the 5D:

- OK for the 180/2.8 apo seemingly. I don't use one but it is reported as compatible by Pebble Place: CANON LEICA-R COMPATIBILITY DATABASE Leica-R and Leitz-R lenses that work on Canon EOS dSLRs

- OK for the 100/2.8 apo seemingly. Same as above.

- OK for the 90/2 pre-apo (i use one)

- OK for the 60/2.8 (i use one)

- Current 28/2.8: I guess you have the code number 11333. It is reported as incompatible by Pebble Place but i have no problem with the previous code # 11259 which is very close if not identical.

- AF confirm adapters. I use those ones with no problem at all: AF-Hilfslicht-Adapter Leica R-Objektiv - Canon EOS kaufen im Enjoyyourcamera.com Shop

I don't have any of the very, very latest lenses but I've been using my R optics on a 5D for some time with no problems - except for the 16mm which hits the mirror. The 21 is ok, I have the 28 with clip on hood, thats fine. Later design (E55) 35f2 & 50 f1.4 no problem. Also the 60 E55. And certainly no issues with the tele's. I do like the images with the 180 f2.8 (E67) lens, especially. I use the 'AF Confirm' variety of adapter, of which I have several. The wisdom is to have one attached to each lens you'll be using, not have one adapter on the body & fit the lenses to that. I tried it but its too fiddly. So far I've had no issues with adapter quality but then I'm not doing a lot of changes. I imagine the 5D2 will work fine. JOT
