The penguins in Argentina and Chile are Magellanics, and the only other penguin found in South America are the Galapagos penguins.  This is a far rarer species - In fact, the country in which we saw this one has the two rarest species, and we were lucky enough to see them both.

Hmm, after further research it looks like New Zealand

The bird appears to be a Hoiho.

From your comments I thought we would be farther away from Australia
