T00m

I asked for the itinerary, not for the place, but since you referred to the Wiki-page where the track is mentioned and tells us even more, I will approve. It was a train trip with my wife from Beijing to Lhasa, more specific here from Qinhai to Lhasa through the Himalaya. In China they call it the Sky Road, duration 36 hours. The train is equipped with oxygen masks which can be used against altitude sickness, but we did not feel anything like that. Highest point in the track was 5200m and in the first photo we are not far from that point. At the point where the train began to climb in the province of Qinhai, we went to sleep and awoke a fair distance from the pass, where there was not yet any snow, just yaks grazing on endless plateaus. After the pass we descended to Lhasa on 3600m.
Over to you Arnaud

But didn’t the journey go *partially* through China then?

Yes, didn’t I say so in post #19434? Jesus what an amount of posts; we’re a real family

If a train ride starts in China and ends in China, not crossing any other country, it goes completely and not in part through the country.

But we reached the destination, so it doesn’t matter anymore 🙂

You are perfectly rigth in terms of international law and geopolitics. Officially Tibet belongs to China. I’m sorry but I did not follow this ‘reality’ yet, ideology often prevents to accept facts, even in my case  🙃, not only Trump has this issue. I see Tibet as a culture in many ways very different from Chinese culture, geopolitical facts aside. It was no sooner than under Xi Jinping, because of his wife, that China started with more tolerance to buddhism, just one example. Perhaps it was good for tourism too.

Nice photo (very good stitching) of a quiet Place that I went frequently, when I lived in Paris.

Nothing to hesitate to name Place Dauphine, Ile de la Cité, Paris.

Bar du Caveau at left of this triangular square.
