It appears that it could be the small town of Reszel, to the north-east of Olsztyn... in which case you would have taken the picture from the castle...

Very nice town (apparently), and a very nice picture indeed!

(If my guess is correct I apologize: I have nothing to show - so anyone is welcome to post a new riddle...)

Reszel it is. A small town, perhaps 4000 population with an interesting history.

Yes the photo was taken from the castle's medieval tower. To ensure it's preservation it is now a hotel, it was a great place to stay.

Thanks stefans4. Someone jump in and post something!

The rice terraces are no help, they're everywhere in Asia. Those hats could be Javanese. How about the Indonesian Island of Java

Indeed - Java it is. But it's a big island, so out of interest can you narrow it down? The many rice terraces are part of the reason why one comes to this spot, apart from the small early Hindu temple.  (Hint)

Not the right location I am afraid.  (BTW the sarong was worn by a man!)

However in order to get the thread on track and moving again - this and quite a few other images were taken at the rice fields of Selogriyo. The small Hindu temple of Candi Selogriyo is 9th C. (Selo = stone, griyo = house) It was seriously damaged in an earthquake in 1998 but was re-built in a safer location by 2000.  It is a worth-while but long 1/2 day outing from Amanjiwo nr. Borobodur.

So  - over to war for the next image.

Hi Michael,

"Someone Else" doesn't seem to respond so I'll go with another:

The Mountain range in the background, or the town in the foreground and country.
