"Do you know the world ?" -- Competition --

Stuart, so kind of you to pay me that compliment. You are a pal!

I have never been to the place, Andreas, but that little boy looked like the kids you see on photos taken among the people there - that is all I worked from.

My turn to find a picture. I'll dive into my 'archives'.

Where are we now? Who was born in this house and lived here? I removed the information about the man on the poster from the red sign next to the door.

At first I thought it was Poe, but the small torso suggests a sculptor. Of course if it is Poe it's probably his home in Baltimore.

Yes, Stuart, he does look like Poe, but he isn't… The man is a sculptor indeed. Far away from Baltimore. A hint: we're far away from America in terms of miles, but not 'in spirit'… Did I give too much away?...

I will amend my speculation to the Bartholdi Museum in Colmar, Alsace, France, if that is OK.

That is excellent, Tundraline! It is indeed the house of Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi in Colmar, Alsace. The man who designed the Statue of Liberty. I was there just last week. In the museum you see these little sculptures of other shapes the figure might have taken. Very touching how it all started so small to become one of the most iconic and meaningful statues in the world.

Did you visit there as well?

Your turn!

Hi Frans: I have never visited this museum, and in fact have only driven hurriedly through Colmar a few times. Your clues about a sculptor and American spirit, plus the French-style architecture and cobblestones, led me to the answer. What an inspiring story about one man. He constructs a 150-foot-tall sculpture and donates it to the American people. The statue goes on to become one of the principal icons representing American ideals. Many have forgotten how important the French contribution to the American Revolutionary War was. For these and other reasons (like food and the French people themselves), France has a special place in my heart.

But onward. Where are we now? Clue: Not near the equator.

Unfortunately, one click in Google's Chrome finds it: Gullfoss, Iceland.

Post another one.

Correct you are. OK, I am confident that Google will not be of any help finding where this image was taken. Clue: Also not near the equator. Located just south of a major metropolitan area.
