"Into the Wild" I suppose...wasn't Sonora that "town" ? Do not remember well...

The movie is right, not the town... Or let me be precise: the city.;)

Another hint: it's famous for its inhabitants as well!

Why Slab is famous for its inhabitants ?

Luigi, Slab is one of the latest hippies commune in the U.S.

Nearby there's the Leonard Knight's Salvation Mountain, I have some portrait of him and its "location".

I will try to post some of them, by the way, Slab city seems to be out of time still, worth a trip.

Ciao!

You know I was wondering if your "road movie" reference might be to Into the Wild, but I had no idea where the coummunity was that he stayed with in Cali was. Good movie.

Yep Mark,

you're right, the movie is great indeed (referring to photography) IMO.

And Slab City is a place to visit for sure. I was there and took a trip to Niland, the Salton Sea (somehow spooky, as you may find yourself walking near the shores over a loom of dead fishes and bones), and then the Salvation Mountain and Slab City. All at once.

Ciao!

The site was found by a famous Scotsman. His dog died there. I have a feeling you know where you are going, Rob. Although there are Lions in several continents...;)
