thighslapper Posted November 28, 2012 Share #10966 Posted November 28, 2012 (edited) Another couple of views... all from within a few hundred metres of the original viewpoint ..... this is beginning to resemble a tourist brochure..... stefans4 Posted November 29, 2012 Share #10969 Posted November 29, 2012 (edited) Bydgoszcz? If true, then your comment from #10950 already gave it away... And very beautiful pictures, all of them... thighslapper Posted November 29, 2012 Share #10970 Posted November 29, 2012 Correct .... I have been going there regularly for 8yrs+ (my partner comes from there) and it has changed from a very tatty post cold war industrial city into a vibrant very presentable tourist destination .... some of the areas pictured were semi-derelict and the opera house had been left unfinished for years ..... Over to you.....
stefans4 Posted November 29, 2012 Share #10971 Posted November 29, 2012 Thanks, I've never been there, but it does look extremely pretty now. I'm sorry, I have nothing better to show... so let's get it over with as quickly and painlessly as possible... so that hopefully, real pictures can be shown again very, very soon... So, where does this highway lead to? To make it easier: it ends there as well. And yes, it's an actual, numbered highway. Welcome, dear visitor! Michael Hiles Posted November 29, 2012 Share #10974 Posted November 29, 2012 I suspect British Columbia, but I am not sure where.
thighslapper Posted November 29, 2012 Share #10975 Posted November 29, 2012 Must be Canada as the sign is in Km...... As Michael says it has to be BC.... Not many highways end up at dead ends inland so it has to be on the coast.... Highway 16 to Prince Rupert ???
stefans4 Posted November 29, 2012 Share #10976 Posted November 29, 2012 BC it is. Not the highway to Prince Rupert; a bit south of that.
thighslapper Posted November 29, 2012 Share #10977 Posted November 29, 2012 I can see this is going to be an exercise in map-reading and dogged persistence..... Highway 37 to Kitimat....? Only a few more to try before vancouver - not many roads in this apart of the world !
stefans4 Posted November 29, 2012 Share #10978 Posted November 29, 2012 Sorry, I didn't mean to, but my "a bit" was apparently misleading... it's perhaps 200 km to the south. 9 km with 11% slope means you're going down vertically by 1000 m by the next slope alone. And that's not even the whole descent. And this part of the highway is unpaved... Quite some hill on a highway...
