I think I've seen that in Florence, either somewhere near the palazzo Veccio (in that covered bit next to the entrance?) or in the Museo Bargello..

 

I know what you mean. You come face to marble arse around about every corner in Florence.

Michelangelo's David is probably what you remember (the statue outside is indeed a copy, the original is inside) : similar shapes, but it is not that.
