Austria?

Edit: I think, it is the Holy Maria Magdalena Church in Darmstadt, Germany.

Unfortunately I don't have anything to post at the moment, so it is anybody's choice... 🙂 (If my guess is indeed correct!)

Mich, perfect!  You are right, it is the church of St. Mary Magdalene in Darmstadt / Germany, near Frankfurt, which is popularly called the Russian Chapel. Built 1897 on Russian soil by Tsar Nikolaus II of Russia, who had close family ties to the Grand Duke Ernst-Ludwig of Hessen-Darmstadt. At that time, Hessen-Darmstadt was kind of a political powerhouse, the Grand Duke  was a grandson of Queen Victory and his younger sister Princess Alix got married to the Tsar Nikolaus II as Tsarina Alexandra, murdered 1918 in the Russian Revolution.

The church is located in an ensemble of Art Nouveau buildings and is open to the public.

Here is another photo of the church, showing the front. You may ask why I selcted this church - it is in my home town, I grew up here and went to university.

Now, Mich, it is your turn!

Andreas

Unfortunately, as mentioned above, I have to forfeit! 😪

I found something in the vault. 🙂

A crappy photo, I had business to do at that place and really had no time at all. The wrong lens for this quick location check didn't help either. But maybe it is sufficient to keep the game going. 🙂

Name the town and the rather famous building.
