AZach Posted December 17, 2018 Share #18321 Posted December 17, 2018 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Andreas, you are on the right track. The Holstein cows are also known as Holstein-Friesians. The picture is from Ost Friesland, that used to be established by Napoleon as part of the Kingdom of Holland (so not the Netherlands) but now is in Niedersachsen of Germany. Name of the town and the surrounding area is “not full”... ganz einfach..? Regards, Arto Edited December 17, 2018 by AZach

AZach Posted December 18, 2018 Share #18323 Posted December 18, 2018 Not connected, as far as I understand, sorry.
mich Posted December 18, 2018 Share #18324 Posted December 18, 2018 40 minutes ago, AZach said: Not connected, as far as I understand, sorry. Well, the name of the schooner is 'Anny von Hamburg', but the place in question is obviously not Hamburg. 😊 I don't have any pictures at the moment, so I can only provide clues for somebody else. 🙂
AZach Posted December 18, 2018 Share #18325 Posted December 18, 2018 Obviously not Hamburg (on Elbe), so this town (with a short name) is on another river (with even shorter name).
stefans4 Posted December 19, 2018 Share #18326 Posted December 19, 2018 ... a little verse comes to mind, friendly banter between two competing little towns in East Frisia: "In Aurich ist es schaurich... " = It's ghastly in Aurich... to which the people of Aurich respond: "In Leer noch viel mehr..." = Much more so in Leer... So my guess is: Aurich. 1

Matisse Posted December 19, 2018 Share #18328 Posted December 19, 2018 Could it be NORDEN ? After the Congress in Vienna 1815, it belonged to the Kingdom of Hannover and not longer to France or Holland.
Michael Geschlecht Posted December 20, 2018 Share #18329 Posted December 20, 2018 Hello Arto, Could this place be an island? Perhaps just a little larger island than some other islands nearby? Best Regards, Michael
AZach Posted December 20, 2018 Share #18330 Posted December 20, 2018 Not Norden nor an island but stefans4 already almost got it.
