Here's a photo of a setup in his studio, meant to be painted as still

(how easy is it for painters to make a setup compared to photographers: they can just leave the rubbish in the background for what it is :) )

Hello Otto,

Sometimes photographers can do more or less the same thing with a gimmick called "depth of field".

Best Regards,

Michael

... and what would the "most obvious" guess be...? The correct one, obviously... :-)

Not really :)

I was actually referring to the fact that everybody so far has been jumping all over the islands and nobody has mentioned the mainland yet.

Are you joking with us and were you hinting at Mainland of Orkney?

Not joking. I probably misinterpreted your original comment :  " <but the mainland is an island too, indeed> "

I understood it as reference to the "island" of Great Britain from which Scotland is a part of. My bad!

To avoid any further obstacles, we are looking for a little town on the west coast of Scotland. :)

Gairloch is correct! :)

Your turn.

PS. That's the spot where the photo was taken from.

Just remove the cars and busses! :p
