stephan54 Posted June 15, 2018 Share #17765 Posted June 15, 2018 Nikko, Mount Kuno, Japan, the shrine to Tokugawa Ieyasu (Toshogu Shrine), showing the side entrance...... Hope you are correct as it will be one of the sights I am going to visit this summer.
Dirk Van der Herten Posted June 15, 2018 Share #17766 Posted June 15, 2018 (edited) Mount Kuno is correct. The name of the shrine is Kunōzan Tōshō-gū in Shizuoka. Your turn again, thighslapper. Edited June 15, 2018 by Dirk Van der Herten
Dirk Van der Herten Posted June 16, 2018 Share #17767 Posted June 16, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) A small clarification. Kunōzan or Mount Kunō is not in Nikkō. The Kunō-zan Tōshō-gū in Shizuoka - shown in the photo - is the original burial place of the first shōgun of the Tokugawa shogunate, Tokugawa Ieyasu. Later Ieyasu's grandson, Tokugawa Iemitsu, built a Tōshō-gū in Nikkō, about 150 km. north of Tokyo. Actually there are many Tōshō-gū shrines in Japan. A Tōshō-gū is any Shinto shrine in which Tokugawa Ieyasu is enshrined
