vertekijker Posted January 9, 2013 Share #11242 Posted January 9, 2013 Iceland? Iceland is correct, Olsen. ------------------ Frans
vertekijker Posted January 9, 2013 Share #11243 Posted January 9, 2013 Could it be Grytviken Cemetery? It is not Grytviken Cemetery, Aarflot. I just checked where that is, it looks similar, but South Georgia in the South Atlantic is almost the other side of the world! ------------- Frans
trylab Posted January 9, 2013 Share #11244 Posted January 9, 2013 It must be the French cemetry at Faskrudsfjordur, East Fjord, Iceland. In memorial of the French and Belgium seamen that lost their lives at sea.

Perfect answer! Well done, trylab! I was very moved standing there and seeing names on the graves of Flemish and French fishermen who lost their lives for the fish industry early last century, catching cod in sometimes terrible working conditions. Ironically, the cemetery was next door to a fish oil producing factory - the stench was almost unbearable. Your turn! ----------- Frans

Olsen Posted January 10, 2013 Share #11247 Posted January 10, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well, it is not Norway. Due to the huge difference between low/hight tide. Nor do we allow missle subs parading in our waters like this (they are there, but not officially). Somewhere in Scotland?
trylab Posted January 10, 2013 Share #11248 Posted January 10, 2013 (edited) Not Scotland, -but strange enough-, the grey ship belongs to the Royal Navy. Town is not the correct word, it is a relatively large but young City, founded 98 years ago. Edited January 10, 2013 by trylab
Olsen Posted January 10, 2013 Share #11249 Posted January 10, 2013 Shetland?
trylab Posted January 10, 2013 Share #11250 Posted January 10, 2013 (edited) Not Shetland or Britain. It is more obvious than that. Date is an clue, this special happening was in May 2010, but is typical every year in May. But here is a pano of the city by night Welcome, dear visitor! Olsen Posted January 10, 2013 Share #11255 Posted January 10, 2013 New Zealand?
trylab Posted January 10, 2013 Share #11256 Posted January 10, 2013 (edited) I think the Royal New Zealand Navy have only 3 or 4 ships. This country have some more. NZ or Falklands is not even close, and do not get confused with that - wrong country, sea, ocean thing. Who celebrate in May? and also have one or more not so old cities? and a navy with more than 4 ships? Olsen, I am sure you know and I think most of us do. What part of the world, what country and - what city and fjord, same name, err correction, sorry, not the same name on the fjord - city, in english it is bay, and... well ....it doesnt matter..... Melampus Posted January 10, 2013 Share #11257 Posted January 10, 2013 Iceland? Maybe Hvalfjord? Cheers, -Peter
trylab Posted January 11, 2013 Share #11258 Posted January 11, 2013 No, not Iceland. Iceland does not have an army at all! Iceland have a population of 300 000. And forget the word -fjord- it is confusing. You are looking for an 98 year old city with an population of 4-500 000.
Michael Geschlecht Posted January 11, 2013 Share #11259 Posted January 11, 2013 Hello trylab, Perhaps in Alaska? Best Regards, Michael
trylab Posted January 11, 2013 Share #11260 Posted January 11, 2013 (edited) Hello Michael That was a good guess! It could have been Alaska, but sorry, Anchorage was also founded in 1915, and have a population of almost 300 000. I didnt know that.
