Scholars still debate over the exact uses of the Caves of Matala, and some of them have been blocked up for safety when we were there a few years ago. But for a time in the 1960's and early 1970's, they were a magnet for musicians and hippies; the list of occupants includes Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens, John Lennon and others or so they claim. - My husband was there in 1967.
