thighslapper Posted September 12, 2011 Share #8348 Posted September 12, 2011 Really !!!! For once I didn't have to hunt in google...... I cannot remember this viewpoint at all but the sloping walls and height above the sea plus the hint of the coast below all looked familiar..... Where is this, and what can you eat here that is unique and cooked in an unusual way..... ?? Welcome, dear visitor! thighslapper Posted September 13, 2011 Share #8355 Posted September 13, 2011 Correct !!! This is Bolsena ...... on lake Bolsena in the far south of Tuscany The speciality is a fish called Coregone... which is only found here due to the purity of the water. The Lake is only fed by underground (hot) sources and as it is a volcanic plug has minimal feeder streams with pollutants etc. Coregone is traditionally cooked in lake water the emphasise both the purity of the water and unusual nature of the fish.... and it is delicious. Its a nice, unspoilt place as tourism came late and by then Italian laws had changed to prevent rampant inappropriate development.... Over to you Adli Welcome, dear visitor!
