As noted above - not in Scandinavia, hence not in Finland.

Having lived in Norway fo a while....

Finland is not part of Scandinavia.

Scandinavia is Norway, Sweden and Denmark. The "Nordic" countries include Finland and Iceland.

Cheers

Thanks for the clarification! I was aware of the differences in the languages - Ugro-Finnic vs. Germanic but, always considered Finland as part of Scandinavia. If my geography teacher was still alive, I'd give him an 'F' (or a '5' which stood for 'failed' when and where I went to school...)

But:

and

Scandinavia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

and

Official Site of Scandinavian Tourist Boards of North America - Scandinavian Tourist Boards - Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden

Now where is that statue.......

Best,

Jan

I don't think that I would include Spain among one of Europe's landlocked countries.....

Switzerland it is.

That's why I thought of Como (Italy) at first (there's a lake in the background as well).

Well, then I'd say Lugano.

Time for hints.... The body of water in the background is not a lake. The city has rather close ties to a certain member of the animal kingdom....

Good luck,

Jan

From your hints I would guess, bears and hence Bern yet what makes me wonder is that normally the Swiss are very respectful of their parks and monuments, and further that the style of the statue fits more with, how can I say it without offending anyone, a stalinist country.

Bern it is! Photo was taken probably 20 years ago for exactly the reason you mention - very un-Swiss to leave a statue in this shape..... As to the style being more fitting for a Stalinist country - nah... Stalinist statues were much more cheerful and grandiose, to represent the "happines" of the citizenry.

The park is directly under the famous Bärengraben, along the bank of the Aare river.

Go ahead, your turn.

Thanks,

Jan

Thank you Jan.

Here is the next one with 2 simple questions:

Age and location of the building.

Original image is a Kodachrome slide taken some 40 years ago under cloudy skies. Colour is reasonably accurate.
