Hello Jan, I would think Himalyas again. Best Regards, Michael In the Anapurna, but I don't know which peak. Not in the Himalayas, hence not in the Anapurna..... Is our peak higher or lower than 7.500 m., Jan? Dirk, Lower than 7,500m though it did not feel like it when we marched through the pass below it, at about 5,000m. doubice Posted December 19, 2010 Share #6435 Posted December 19, 2010 Andreas, It is not Illimani. Illimani is just a little bit higher than 'My' mountain. Go north. Best, Jan
etibeti Posted December 19, 2010 Share #6436 Posted December 19, 2010 Andreas, It is not Illimani. Illimani is just a little bit higher than 'My' mountain. Go north. Best, Jan Maybe Alexander von Humboldt has something to do with that mountain?
doubice Posted December 19, 2010 Share #6437 Posted December 19, 2010 Herr von Humboldt was more famous for having climbed almost to the top of Chimborazo and that is not 'my' mountain, nor is it in the correct country. He did have however, ties with the country where 'my' mountain is located and there are institutions named after him. Is it time for more hints? noriko_miyazaki Posted December 20, 2010 Share #6438 Posted December 20, 2010 Chopicalqui - Perù ? Noriko
doubice Posted December 20, 2010 Share #6439 Posted December 20, 2010 Noriko, Chopicalpi is not correct, Peru is. Chopicalpi is in the Huascaran range, ever so slightly higher than 'my' mountain and north of where we are supposed to be..... So - from my "go south and go north" responses, we should have the approximate location and from the "higher and lower" hints, we should have the approximate height. ..."Lower than 7,500m though it did not feel like it when we marched through the pass below it, at about 5,000m"... ...."no to Aconcagua. Go north"...... ...."this mountain is higher than the Cotapaxi. Go south"..... ...."Illimani is just a little bit higher than 'My' mountain. Go north"..... Another hint - close to a rather famous place...... Best, Jan
a.j.z Posted December 20, 2010 Share #6440 Posted December 20, 2010 (edited) Ausangate (which is close to Cusco and Machu Picchu)? The first to climb this mountain btw was an Austrian (Heinrich Harrer). I like this thread as you learn a lot Edited December 20, 2010 by a.j.z
