That is correct, Andreas! What kept you silent for so long? :)

Over to you.

Arne

Well, once I saw it it cost me about 10 minutes in google - when I was in Nice these statues were not there.

Let's stick to things on poles ;) Where ist this? - should be fairly easy as I assume that a a lot of people have been there; if not, I will post additional pictures

No bad guess Brian (well maybe for someone living in London who should know every corner of Windsor :p) - but not correct. I just wanted to give a hint that can be found in the picture but that's not necessary any more.

OT: I just admired the photos of colonnades on your website - if you ever go to Paris you should not miss this one http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/landscape-travel/129618-photographer.html

The rose seems to lead me to Yorkshire castle.

No.

Or is it just the Tudor rose?

Yes! That was the hint that somehow limits the possible places. There is a second hint to be found ...

They use fleur de lis in France.

Fleur de lis is the lily flower.

We have a white rose (five petals) on red ground. We also have a standart bearing lion on a white and green pedestal.

Does white with green imply Ireland, by any chance?

Yes Frank - your turn.

Lion is a hint to Henry VIII - Hampton Court was his favourite palace

btw: if you enter "tudor" and "lion" in Google Hampton Court appears in the first line (but they show another lion).
