"Do you know the world ?" -- Competition --

Recommended Posts

In all honesty, 'Google Images' has so far not been terribly helpful! I Googled for sculptures in a park, holy statues, etc. Nothing that looks remotely like anything on this picture.

I'm trying to approach it from another angle, namely the landscape. Looks awfully dry in that place, not what I think of as typically Japanese. Would it be in a mountainous part, in the south?

No.

It is a park in the souht of the island and it is somewhat of mountains and highlands, as Frans pointed out with the vegetation.

It plays an important role in Japanese mythology.

They are said to be the site where the god Ninigi no Mikoto, grandson of the sun goddess Amaterasu,

was sent to rule over the earth and establish the lineage of Japanese Emperors.

But this is Shitu.

The little statue is Buddism, but as I said, there a many alongside one of the trails.

Very good hiking, if you like mountains, which I don't too much.

I would have tought that a few Japanese Leica owner were following our little quiz :)

Kirishima National Park in Takachiho.

Takachiho is as far as I know the highest mountain in the Kirishima National Park, so the park is right. It is also known as Kirishima Volcanic Park.

Congratulations

Dirk

and looking forward to your picture

Thank you, esquire53.

Takachiho (高千穂町, Takachiho-chō) is not only the name of a mountain, but it is also the name of a small town located in Miyazaki Ken.

Over to a different part of the world.

The name of the location, please.
