behhl Posted October 29, 2009 Share #2475 Posted October 29, 2009 I don't think that my answer was sufficient though. We had to find the name of the building as well, didn't we? I only found the town (Kuala Lumpur). I googled some, but can't find that place. Anybody else?---------------- Frans Thats Dayabumi, formerly the headquarter building of Petronas (the national petroleum company) before they moved to the Petronas Twin Towers at KLCC. Its situated near the Central Market area and the chinatown area those familiar to Kuala Lumpur will call 'Petaling Street'. Just opposite to the other side is the old field where the Union Jack was lowered to end colonial rule in Malaysia called the Padang where the Selangor Club is. Diagonally across the road is the National Mosque and behind that the Islamic Museum.

stuny Posted October 29, 2009 Share #2478 Posted October 29, 2009 Right country. Our driver had to stop to ask directions more than once to find this very special town. But what town? Then there are the extra credit questions.
stuny Posted October 30, 2009 Share #2479 Posted October 30, 2009 My sincere apologies – this was too obscure. First the answer and then one less obscure: Soantanana. About 600 of the 1000 inhabitants of Soantanana belong to a religious sect called the Church of the Apostles. Founded in 1840, the church is dedicated to following the teachings of Jesus by doing charitable deeds and welcoming strangers. The members of the congregation dress daily in elegant white robes with long flowing lambas (shawls) and devote their lives to good deeds. As we began walking towards the church, congregants came over to introduce themselves and welcome us to the town. The town is set on a hilltop with spectacular views over the surrounding hills and valleys. As 9 am approached a procession of Apostles marched towards the church, singing a hymn in exquisite 7-part harmony. The service lasted about two hours punctuated by much more beautiful singing. After the service, we were invited to lunch and to have our feet washed. Since Jesus washed the feet of the apostles and urged them to wash the feet of others, church members prove that they are apostles by offering this service to visiting strangers. You can read a lot more detail in Barbara’s notes on our site. Now try this one. To win, all you need do is name the body of water. Extra points if you name the country, which is a minor hint. Two oak leaf clusters if you correctly tell about what is pictured. Welcome, dear visitor!
