John Thawley Posted January 30, 2009 Share #1 Posted January 30, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Pit lane at the infamous Sebring Int'l Raceway. Annual winter testing and media days kick-off the new season which will begin in March with the legendary 12 Hours of Sebring. Shooting with the Digilux 2 draws some odd looks and a fair number of inquiries. The fact that it's brown seems to add to the intrigue.

stuny Posted February 18, 2009 Share #2 Posted February 18, 2009 John - As always, superb light, color, detail, clarity and framing. Even though this section is lightly viewed it's still a mystery why there are no comments after nearly 3 weeks.
vdb Posted February 18, 2009 Share #3 Posted February 18, 2009 John, love these images. Great colors as well. I have raced Sebring a few times with factory Porsche cup cars and it remains one of my favorite tracks anywhere. Fast, rough with multiple types of surfaces at every corner. Turn 8 is my favorite hairpin.

John Thawley Posted February 19, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted February 19, 2009 John, love these images. Great colors as well.I have raced Sebring a few times with factory Porsche cup cars and it remains one of my favorite tracks anywhere. Fast, rough with multiple types of surfaces at every corner. Turn 8 is my favorite hairpin. Thanks. I continue to work at using the Digilux 2 into my workflow at races and racing events. It's still a challenge in-as-much as my Canon gear offers quicker auto focus, and a broader lens selection. But, I keep telling myself that a.) I don't need a kjillion frames blasting away. And b.) I like the look of this type of shot from the Leica. They really are the perfect happy medium between digital and film, IMO. The only "fear" I have is missing a "great" shot due to speed of my mental muscles with the camera and speed of the auto focus. The mental muscles are getting quicker with increased use, though. Thanks again, JT

Guest flatfour Posted March 24, 2009 Share #8 Posted March 24, 2009 Excellent pics and the Digilux2 always surprises with its quality at so few pixels by modern standards. That's a bog standard BMW !
kdemas Posted March 24, 2009 Share #9 Posted March 24, 2009 Nice to see Adrian Fernandez in the Acura, very nice pics. Did you get to see the Audi R15? Too bad the Porches pulled out, I shoot alot of ALMS and I'll miss them at Long Beach next month. I'd post some of my pics but I use my Nikons for Racing (exceptin the paddock) Thanks for posting!
